On Salisbury Street, this is Hong Kong's landmark hotel. Since 1928 the lobby of "The Pen" has been described as the Crossroads of the East.
In Aberdeen, one of the area's most popular tourist attractions, the location of the boat people of "Little Hong Kong." The Tai Pak floating restaurant in the sampan ride scene is right next to the Sea Palace and, like the latter, specializes in seafood.
When NBC aired this first episode, affiliates in Birmingham, AL, Savannah, GA and Daytona Beach, FL refused to air it because it featured a black man in a lead role.
